Throughout my life I have been blessed to learn from some great horsemen, and have reached the conclusion that no one ever “arrives” as a horseman (despite what some may claim).
Good horsemanship is a lifelong pursuit, much like perfecting a craft. It’s commonly referred to as horse training (for lack of a better term), but really the goal is to get as much out of each horse as possible…all while keeping him in a good frame of mind.
Essentially, we all need our horses to do the same things regardless of the discipline. Once there is a solid foundation of: standing still, bending the neck, yielding the hindquarters/frontquarters, and performing the walk, trot and canter softly, it can be refined in any direction we choose.
We welcome the opportunity to work with you and your horse, however the more the owner can be involved the better. Since consistency is so important between horses and humans, it would be a waste of time & money to take a horse somewhere to further his education, and then not have those same principals implemented going forward.
